Remember how many donut shops we used to have? Lets see there was one on Grand Ave near the Laundromat. Both are gone now. The one on Broad and Fremont is still there but doesn’t seem to as busy as it once was.

There was one on Henderson St where there is now an auto parts store. Oh an of course the one on Farnham and Knox where there is now a motorcycle parts store. It used to be so busy and they had the best coffee. There was always plenty of people there talking to friends. But my favorite was the Dixie Cream on West and Main next to Olsen Radiator. I used to deliver him a Peoria Journal Star and at 5 AM in the morning the donuts always smelled so good you could smell them cooking a mile a way. He always gave my brother and I free samples. Some times on Saturday when I was collecting I would buy a half dozen glazed cinnamon roles and eat them all while collecting.
